The g!'s have not only been hard at work raising money for the Kenya Girls' Scholarship Programme, they have been working hard getting in shape for their trek up Kilimanjaro. Weekly bootcamps led by our g! Trainer Daryl Devonish and g! mentor Jillian Frechette, have helped the girls prepare both physically and mentally for the journey ahead.

A Day in the Kraft Kitchens
Do you ever wonder how Kraft creates their amazing food recipes? We certainly found out when the gi’s visited Kraft in July!
The gi’s have been learning valuable nutritional information through the curriculum developed by Kate Slater and her team of registered dieticians, Eva Loewenberger and Rebecca Noseworthy. This incredible day kicked off with education sessions on the main meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The gi’s then moved into the kitchens with Jane Carman, Director of the Kraft Kitchens, and her team for a very busy cook off! The girls created 15 recipes between them all! After the hard work, everyone enjoyed the fruits of their labour with a flavourful lunch!
A very special thank you to Janine Keogh, a member of the Kraft executive team and girl !mpact mentor to Shaunice for arranging this very special day for us all.

GI's Love Art
On Saturday, June 27, 2009 the GIs were artists. Nancy Johnston of Art Studio for Children generously gave her time and energy to inspire and coach the girl impact climbers to create beautiful art that depicted love – being loved and loving others.
All the art materials (over $800 in supplies) were generously donated by DeSerres. The girls created 11 colourful depictions of love on large canvases. The purpose of the day was two fold – 1 allow the girls to be in an uncomfortable, unfamiliar environment doing something they have never done before, and push through it, and 2 to create personal, yet “saleable” art to auction at an upcoming fundraiser.
Upon our return from Kilimanjaro, girl !mpact will host a night of art – including performing artists (singers, musicians) and the live auction of the GI's Love Art. The evening will be hosted at a musical venue in Toronto. Stay tuned for tickets for this fabulous artful evening to raise money for Girl Impact. Come and enjoy an evening of performing and visual art.
