Maedot
(everyone calls me Maedy)

Grade: 11
School: Satec @ W.A. Porter C.I.

Likes: spending time with family and friends, being apart of things that are going to make a positive change in my community, trying new things and taking chances, and eating ice-cream for breakfast

Dislikes: when people think negatively or have a bad vibe, when people judge before they know and understand something or someone, when people don't treat other people like humans but rather objects, and most of all I dislike when I have food stuck in my teeth and no one tells me.

Favorite Activities: reading, writing scripts, swimming, hanging out with friends and singing (when I know no one is listening)

What girl !mpact has meant to me so far: The past seven months have definitely been the most exciting, emotional, demanding, and pleasing months of my life. From meeting the girls, to participation in workshops, and going through extensive physical training, it has been a wonderful experience. I found that the workshops we attended for things like fitness, nutrition, and finance are things that are going to be useful even after this experience. I learned that it takes a lot more then just passion to make something happen. Commitment, determination, hard work and team work are all factors that help a dream turn into reality, and with the help of jane and leanne, the mentors and the other girls i was able to see that first hand.

Even after all this time the whole thing really hasn't sunk in yet and I don't expect it to until I'm there living it. I'm exceptionally excited to meet the girls but I'm even more anxious to see what I will do with the gained experience. I can't wait to see how the whole trip will affect me or if it does at all. Being able to distinguish the difference in life style will definitely be something I'm curious to see, and I think that is going to be the hardest part. Although right now all I can think of is how lucky and blessed I am to be apart of something so grand and life changing, and if anything I hope that this initiative inspires others to do the same.
