Grade: 11 School: Sir Wilfrid Laurier C.I.
Likes and Dislikes: My favourite colour is purple. I love being active and spending time with my friends. Anything I do is 10x better with my girls. I don't like cooking or cleaning, I just like to eat and have my room be clean.
Favourite Activities: My favourite activities are Ballet, Rugby, Swimming, dancing, laughing and trying new things. I love to be a part of clubs and councils at school and make a difference in the student body. Being active physically and socially are my favourite things to do. :)
What girl !mpact has meant to me so far: Girl impact has really made an impression on me, it’s taught me about myself, people around me and even people that I don’t know yet. For myself, it has given me a goal and something to strive to achieve. It has been hard at times and really helped me to understand what it means to be committed. Everything that girl impact has taught me either indirectly or directly from the workshops has been beneficial. I knew that this program would be life changing, but I did not expect such growth even before the trip! I am so grateful for all the experiences thus far! As far as the people around me, I’ve seen such enthusiasm and great support. Family, Friends, Sponsors, and even just acquaintances all seem very excited to be a part of girl impact and it really touches my heart to know that they all want to help. The other gi’s have shown me that there are likeminded girls that really want to make a difference in the world as well as becoming friends. This program has really given me a lot of faith in our communities and gracious donations and involvement has proven that. Finally, perhaps the biggest aspect that girl impact has and will further teach me is about people I don’t even know yet. I am scared but excited to finally be able to put a face to the 10 Kenyan girls. Their lifestyles are nothing like I can imagine, and certainly climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is not comparable. Climbing the mountain is going to be amazing and I’m ready for that personal challenge. However, what I am most looking forward to is shaking the hands of the girls that are receiving the scholarship. That is what I’ve been thinking about since I got the great news that I’ll be included on the girl impact journey. All is great; past, present and future! I can’t wait.
